BC&BS Rhode Island Expects New Payment Partner to Help with Healthcare Reform

Anticipation of increased enrollment led the insurer to look for a new payment partner.

Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI) has selected a payment platform from ACI Worldwide that allows mobile, web, IVR (interactive voice response), call center and eLockbox (consolidated remittances) payments, the companies said in a release.

The company gained a desire to ramp up its payment and presentment capabilities as the Affordable Care Act began to roll out and more policyholders were added to its books.

"With a growing membership of more than 500,000, our focus is on providing Rhode Islanders with health insurance plans that meet their needs. Making the process as seamless as we can, including a streamlined payment system, is part of that," said Nathaniel Bosgraaf, Channel Manager, Retail Management for BCBSRI, in a statement. "This means giving members an intuitive interface with user-friendly functionality."
