Mitchell Adds Claims Communications, PPO Compliance to SmartAdvisor

The SmartAdvisor Health Ticket and PPO Lookup Directory are meant to contain claims costs and increase PPO and ancillary network participation, according to Mitchell.

San Diego-based Mitchell International has added new capabilities to its SmartAdvisor bill review platform for workers' compensation.

The company has incorporated Langhorne, Pa.-based VIIAD's Health Ticket and PPO Lookup Director into the platform. These allow claims examiners and managed care experts to quickly and easily locate participating PPO providers and other information relevant to a workers' compensation claims transaction, according to a release.

Health Ticket provides real time, specific and printable care instructions to all parties involved in a claim, helping clients increase PPO penetration with resultant savings, avoiding unnecessary care and improving the quality and timeliness of care, the statement continues; while the Lookup Directory creates and customizes panel postings, creates customized directories for printing or electronic distribution and provides tools for users to nominate providers for recruitment.

"Mitchell is pleased to have struck another strategic partnership, this time with claims technology innovator VIIAD, that allows insurance payers to further leverage SmartAdvisor's extended specialty pricing, PPO networks and compliance expertise," Nina Smith-Garmon, SVP and GM of the Mitchell Workers' Compensation Solutions Division, says in a statement. "The SmartAdvisor medical bill review platform is an industry leader because of the depth and breadth of our medical bill review offerings that deliver more opportunities enabled by innovative technologies to help contain claims costs."
