The Future of Claims: Finding Strategic Value
Tuesday, June 12, 2007
The Westin North Michigan Avenue, Chicago
The claim is the ultimate "moment of truth" in the insurer/policyholder relationship. Everything from service to customer retention to regulatory compliance to carrier profitability is encompassed by the claims transaction. But it's not just about processing a transaction. More than 80 percent of carrier revenues go through the claims process. And, as the political fallout post-Hurricane Katrina demonstrates, an insurer's reputation, not to mention its ability to conduct business, can be dramatically affected by how it administers claims.
That's why savvy companies are starting to take a more strategic, forward-looking approach to claims, implementing an array of leading edge technologies and processes that can reduce leakage, improve fraud detection, enhance underwriting and regulatory reporting, and upgrade service and performance.
Gain insights into the technologies, tools and solutions providers that are now enabling insurance enterprises to revamp their claims operations to not only gain efficiencies but also to improve retention, image and overall competitive advantage.
Critical topics, to include:
- How mobility is transforming claims operations.
- Leveraging legacy claims systems with SOA.
- Mining claims data for improved customer insight, fraud detection and compliance.
- The economics of claims administration — calculating the benefits of systems upgrades.
- Preparing for disaster — meeting the claims requirements of tomorrow.
- Collaboration and integration — advancing the claims value chain.

Panel Discussion: Competing on Claims
Claims transformation isn't only about gaining efficiencies and reducing fraud — increasingly, carriers are finding ways to leverage their investments in leading-edge claims-related technologies to gain competitive advantage and build market share. In fact, claims proficiency has become the focus of a number of insurers' advertising campaigns. Are the investments (both technology and marketing) paying off? A panel of industry experts debates what truly represents best practices in claims, where claims technology is going, and what's going to be required to excel in this space in an increasingly risky world.
- Leveraging legacy claims systems: Preserve, migrate cautiously or replace?
- End-to-end solutions — do they deliver?
- Claims and Business Intelligence — reality or rhetoric?
- Are insurers ready for the risks/catastrophes of tomorrow?
- Do insurers have the claims talent/professionals needed to respond?

Symbility's award-winning mobile claims revolution means claims adjusters and restoration contractors can now process claims on-site. We don't mean in a van parked at the site—we mean in each room, right where the damage is. Symbility is used while moving around the site, so as you inspect the loss, you capture the data directly into the software and build a complete estimate. This eliminates the need to make notes on paper and then transcribe the notes into traditional estimating software out in a van or back at your office.
Symbility is the only claims system designed specifically for pen-based, wireless computers. It results in claims settled up to six times faster and more accurately—reducing adjusting expenses and lowering indemnity.
