Phoenix Names Assistant VP, Chief Underwriter

The appointee will manage all aspects of underwriting, risk selection, mortality and underwriting philosophy.

The Phoenix Companies, Inc. has announced the appointment of Gregg Secor to assistant VP and chief underwriter. He will oversee all components of underwriting, risk selection, underwriting philosophy and mortality.

Secor previously served as president and CEO at APEX Underwriting Solutions, an independent contracting firm that offers outsourced underwriting solutions to agencies and independent producers. He worked as an underwriter for Phoenix earlier in his career.

“Greg is a highly accomplished underwriting professional with advanced knowledge of risk assessment best practices, life insurance products, compliance, distribution and marketing,” says Scott Schuetz, VP of Growth Delivery and Operations at Phoenix, in a statement. “We are very pleased he is returning to Phoenix.”
