Southport Re Names First CEO

New York-based private equity firm Southport Lane has named Glenn Weber chief executive of its reinsurance holding company Southport Re and EVP of the parent company.

The newly created position gives Weber overall management responsibility for Southport Re. He had been managing director and practice leader at Aon, where he led the firm’s Risk Finance and Captive Consulting Practices, as well as its Risk Management Outsourcing Group. Weber has also focused on advanced analytics, development of alternatives to the traditional market and process reengineering, according to a statement.

“Glenn has consistently demonstrated that he is one of the industry’s most creative thinkers and an effective leader of successful, growing, client-focused teams,” Kevin Adler, CEO of Southport Lane, says in a statement. “His expertise in risk and compliance, along with his in-depth knowledge of the industry, will be invaluable as we continue to strengthen and expand our organization, especially our reinsurance platform through Southport Re.”
