Walsh Picks Telit For Telematics Device Communication
San Ramon, Calif.-based Walsh Wireless is using Raleigh, N.C.-based Telit Wireless Solutions' CC864-DUAL cellular machine-to-machine communications module to enable the Walsh DataLogger vehicle monitoring device for usage-based car insurance and fleet management applications, the companies say.
DataLogger, a self-installable, plug-and-play telematics device, will use Telit’s module for a secure wireless connection to remotely monitor vehicle performance, location and driver behavior. The module incorporates gpsOne capability for personal and asset tracking applications in mobile environments, Telit says.
“Our insurance customers trust that the Walsh DataLogger will provide a cost-effective and reliable solution that seamlessly monitors driver behavior, enabling them to provide a truly individualized insurance policy," Chick Walsh, chief strategy officer of Walsh Wireless, says in a statement. "By integrating Telit’s CC864-DUAL module, we are able to deliver the security, reliability and accuracy that the growing insurance telematics market demands."
