Former Ohio Casualty CTO and IBM consultant John Kellington has faith that the best-practice and project management disciplines that served him in his former roles will likewise inform his contributions as Pearl River, N.Y-based ACORD's senior vice president in charge of standards. Kellington sees an opportunity not only to continue ACORD's momentum in electronic forms and new standards development and implementation, but also to accelerate and increase the efficiency of the standards development process.
"We need to invest in a different way of developing standards that will ensure that the standards created for one unique market are consumable from another," he comments. As companies continue to expand their geographic reach, there is a need to keep standards traceable, at a minimum, Kellington adds.
While confident that ACORD will make a "huge difference" as it carries its mission forward, Kellington is realistic about the demands of his position. "The new technique will be very challenging to develop, but also very rewarding," he acknowledges. "I'm certain that ACORD and its contributing members will be successful -- an efficient global insurance market is going to demand it."
