Esurance Launches iPhone App
San Francisco-based auto insurance company Esurance has released an iPhone app allowing its customers to access ID cards, view their coverage and make payments.
Non-customers can also use the app to get Esurance policy quotes.
"We take pride in our ability to make shopping for car insurance easier,” Esurance CIO Phil Swift says in a statement.
In addition to policy management, customers who need to make a claim can use the app to find preferred repair shops in the customer's neighborhood using Google Maps. Some claims can also be reported through the phone.
The Esurance app also has a repair monitoring feature. Customers with a car in the shop are able to see daily photos of their repairs throughout the process.
“As the mobile market continues to evolve, consumers are seeking innovative ways to shop for and manage their auto insurance needs," John Swigart, Esurance's CMO, says in a statement. "With the Esurance app, iPhone users are able to get a quote, pay their bill, report a claim, find a nearby repair shop, and view daily photos of the repairs."
Other insurers, including Humana and MassMutual, have begun using the iPhone as a marketing vehicle.
