Liberty Mutual Creates Group Life Benefits Site

The www.libertymutualgroup.com/grouplife site accompanies the carrier's publication of a step-by-step guide that reviews the critical tasks employers must complete following the death of an employee.

Liberty Mutual has created a new Web site, www.libertymutualgroup.com/grouplife to assist personnel managers in administrating group life insurance programs. The site accompanies the carrier's publication of a step-by-step guide that reviews the critical tasks employers must complete following the death of an employee.

Tools available at www.libertymutualgroup.com/grouplife include a podcast reference guide for employers on the best practices for managing life claims, from dealing with beneficiaries, to working with the insurance carrier; general information about life insurance and statistics that underscore the importance of group life protection; a podcast for employees on the benefits of group life insurance; and an online calculator employees can use to help select the appropriate level of life insurance coverage to meet their needs, according to a Liberty Mutual press release.

The carrier's step-by-step guide, guide — Moving Forward: Addressing the Death of an Employee — is a companion piece to Liberty Mutual's previous publicatiion Taking the Next Step: A Resource Guide for Beneficiaries, which outlines financial, legal, and other activities a beneficiary should consider during the first few months to settle a loved one's affairs. The employer guide is provided to all Liberty Mutual Group Life customers and reviews the immediate steps an employer should take after being notified of an employee's death; the vital information the employer should discuss with the deceased's beneficiaries and family members; the steps the company can take to help coworkers move beyond the death of a colleague; and the specific actions an employer should take when an employee passes away at work.
