New Principal Mobile Tools Include Calculators for Consumers

The carrier is making available on its mobile website a calculator called From Here to Security that aims to help potential clients understand their needs for life and disability income insurance.

Des Moines, Iowa-based The Principal Financial Group has added several mobile planning tools and applications for customers and financial advisors.

The company has released a mobile calculator called From Here to Security with two applications: life insurance and disability insurance. It hopes the calculators will help customers understand how much income replacement they may need if they become too sick or hurt to work; or whether their coverage is adequate in the event of their death.

The Principal has also opened the Dream. Design. Rebuild. mobile site, which is designed to help retirement plan participants define their financial goals, create a strategy, and find a financial professional. The site lets users select up to three dreams, receive mobile-friendly “to do” items and resources for goals like buying a home, becoming debt free or going back to school; and e-mail a list to-do items to themselves and their advisor. Users can instantly connect to the mobile site via https://m.principal.com/dreams or by scanning a barcode in their plan handbook.

For the company's financial advisors, a new mobile application, The Principal Advisor Compensation Application, lets them access current and prior compensation statement summaries, view compensation paid by product line and monitor year-to-date earnings directly from a mobile device.

"Advisors are where their clients are – they don’t operate their businesses from their desks," Gary Scholten, SVP and CIO of The Principal says in a statement. "We’ve designed a number of new mobile applications to give advisors the information they want, when they want it and how they want it."
