Norman R. Sorensen, President, International Asset Management and Accumulation, Principal Financial Group (Des Moines), was elected Chairman of the International Insurance Society (IIS, New York) at its annual meeting in Madrid. He succeeds Brian Duperreault, President and CEO, Marsh & McLennan Companies, USA, who served as IIS Chairman for three years.
Sorensen is responsible for managing businesses of The Principal outside the United States in the company's international asset management and accumulation segment. He joined the company in 1998 and has been in his current role since February 2010. In addition to serving as IIS Chairman, Sorensen also is Chairman of the Global & Trade Committee of the Financial Services Roundtable (FSR, Washington, D.C.).
