Mi-Co, Cardiff Wireless Pact

Insurers looking to improve customer service by providing anywhere, anytime response and support could benefit from a new technology alliance. Mi-Co (Research Triangle Park, NC), a mobile and wireless handwriting solutions provider, and Cardiff Software Inc. (Vista, CA), an XML-based forms processing and automation solutions provider, have combined Cardiff's TELEform Information Capture System with Mi-Co's Mi-Forms.

Mi-Co's product allows users to write on an electronic clipboard with a special pen, according to Robert Weideman, vice president of marketing, Cardiff Software. The information then gets transferred to an online system for processing. "Mi-Co's product lacked a form designer that would enable the design of forms and apply business rules for each field within a form," says Weideman.

The combined product, called Mi-Forms, can be used by claims adjustors, according to Daniel Leslie, vice president of sales marketing and business development, Mi-Co. "Mi-Form can capture, communicate and distill paper forms into data within a database," says Leslie. "Users will benefit from the efficiency of data capture with the ease of pen on paper forms."
