Regence Group Upgrades Social Media Site

The Northwest/Intermountain regional health insurer has enriched interactive capabilities to enable members using the My Community social media site to share experiences with other members.

Northwest and Intermountain region Blue Cross and Blue Shield company Regence Group (Portland, Ore.) has upgraded its My Community social media site. Members now have an option to customize layouts, use a more robust editor to create posts, "friend" other community members, and share status updates, according to a Regence press release.

The site, available through the health insurer's home page, currently has nearly 50,000 postings in message boards, reflecting an average of over 2,000 messages per months from the more than 500,000 members who logged onto Popular topics being discussed include weight loss, parenting and pregnancy, according to the Regence source.

"We incorporated My Community in to help members find support and be able to communicate with other members and experts on health related topics important to them - all in a safe, secure, online environment, an online environment already designed to provide members with health related tools, resources and information to take charge for their own health." comments Torben Nielsen, director of Consumer-Directed Health Systems, Regence.
