Jackson’s Napoles Aims to Integrate U.S. Businesses

In contrast to the turmoil in the financial services industry, Jackson National Life EVP and chief administrative officer George Napoles' responsibilities have remained fairly consistent. But Napoles' work to align the carrier's IT projects with business objectives remains as important today as it was a year ago when he was recognized among I&T's Elite 8.

"At Jackson we are both business professionals and IT professionals," he says. "Taking an approach that puts one function over the other only serves to create silos that limit the effectiveness of IT rather than unlock its full business potential."

From a tactical standpoint Napoles has been working to enhance IT integration across all of Jackson's U.S. businesses — including Curian Capital, National Planning Holdings and PPMA — through the development of a new data center and disaster recovery facility in Lansing, Mich. He also has been coordinating with several departments on a redesign of the Jackson Web site, which will relaunch in early October. Additionally, as CIO of Jackson's parent company, London-based Prudential, Napoles is driving efforts to leverage IT economies of scale on a global level.
