United Concordia Deploys Real-Time Claims with Tesia-PCI
National dental insurer United Concordia Companies, Inc. (Harrisburg, Pa.; $1.3 billion in annual attained revenues), has launched real-time dental claims processing after a two-month implementation process by connecting to Tesia-PCI's (Great River, N.Y.) Real Time Claims clearing house.
The solution enables United Concordia to reach nearly 70,000 dental offices in real time, according to Marc Menendez, president of Tesia-PCI. "This ensures members are provided the most accurate information about their billing before they leave the dental office," Menendez says. United Concordia has about 7.7 million members and its annual claim volume is in excess of 13 million.
The enhanced connectivity afforded by the Tesia-PCI solution will also help reduce a doctor's account receivables through balance-billing on the spot, according to Menendez. As a result, the insurer will need to field fewer calls from providers to determine payment calculations. Over the long term, the solution could eliminate paper explanation of benefits (EOBs) Menendez asserts.
