AIGT Tackles Mass Auto

Taking on the unique difficulties of processing Massachusetts personal automobile insurance, AIG Technologies (AIGT) has developed MassXpress.

Taking on the unique difficulties of processing Massachusetts personal automobile insurance, AIG Technologies (AIGT) has developed MassXpress. The Web-based product was developed and implemented at Quincy Mutual Fire Insurance (Quincy, Mass.) and is now being made generally available by AIGT.

Through MassXpress, Livingston, N.J.-based AIGT addressed a perennial technical challenge through the solution's ability to interface with insurance reporting organizations, according to Mark Giuliani, vice president, IT, Quincy Mutual. "Processing Mass auto is very complicated. The state does a good job of documenting what needs to be done, but it's a matter of taking that and turning it into code that can work with your system," he explains. "MassXpress includes everything required for processing business in one system and also streamlines the process and makes it easier for our users."

Quincy Mutual signed a contract with AIGT to proceed with work in April 2002. "Incredibly, after 18 months, starting from scratch, we went live," says Giuliani. "Anyone who processes Mass auto knows how stressful such a project can be."
