NEWARK, CA—Risk Management Solutions (RMS), a natural hazard risk modelingsolutions provider, has released RiskLink v4.2. An upgrade to its core catastrophe modeling software application, RiskLink offers catastrophe peril models for more than 40 countries and territories. The new version, focused on workflow improvements, is made available in time for renewal season-a time when insurers make heavy use of catastrophe models to support risk transfer activities, says RMS. RiskLink v4.2 features include faster importing, geocoding and hazard data retrieval; automatic aggregation of detailed loss output and post-analysis editing of treaty terms; and re-calculation of loss results, according to RMS.

BOSTON—SpiritSoft, an open framework Java messaging provider, has launched SpiritIntellect 3.0, a rules management technology that enables modification of business rules across distributed systems-from mainframe to PDA. SpiritIntellect 3.0 provides an event management framework on which developers can build applications. The product uses Event Condition Action (ECA) rules to enable applications to focus on business rules as they apply to business events, rather than to critical data, according to SpiritSoft.

(OIT), a document management software provider, has incorporated SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) e-mail integration within its workflow/process management product, OptiFLOW. Using the SMTP integration, OptiFLOW Workflow Server sends out three types of e-mails, including new job notification messages, time elapse warnings and server warnings. Links can also be included in the e-mails, allowing users to automatically open a queue and take appropriate jobs from WorkFlow, according to OIT.

EL SEGUNDO and SAN MATEO, CA—Computer Sciences Corp. (CSC) and AvantGo Inc. have formed an alliance to extend insurance applications to mobile devices. Using AvantGo M-Business Server with ViLink, CSC's Web-enabled platform for the life insurance industry, carriers can now securely disseminate information to agents, third parties and consumers via a wireless PDA or Web-enabled digital telephone, according to the vendors. With the product, a carrier's agents can submit new business applications or check on the status of a policy 24 hours a day.

MT. LAUREL, NJ—The E-Insurance Solutions Group of Sengen, an Internet consulting and development firm, has released the SCRIBE policy issuance component for insurance companies. Insurers can build or enhance online policy issuance capabilities by having Sengen integrate the SCRIBE component into the insurance company's existing system instead of developing a new component from scratch, the company says. The component also allows insurance companies to be faster to market with a proven technology, according to Sengen.
