Saskatchewan Workers' Comp Board Implements FINEOS Claims System

The implementation of the FINEOS claims system will help WCB reduce the number of supported technologies, as well as positioning WCB's technology infrastructure to improve the electronic exchange of information with employers, care-givers and other third parties.

The Saskatchewan Workers' Compensation Board (WCB, Saskatoon) has selected FINEOS (Dublin) to deliver and implement the vendor's full lifecycle claims administration system. The solution will process claims in cases of workplace injury or death in the province of Saskatchewan, according to a FINEOS source.

Following a public tender that involved evaluation of available enterprise claims solutions, WCB chose FINEOS on the strength of the vendor's depth of experience, track record of working with government agencies in the workers' comp market, and its knowledge of claims best practices at a global level, according to the FINEOS source. The WCB is the statutory body tasked with providing financial protection, medical benefits, and rehabilitation services to injured workers and their dependents.

The implementation of the FINEOS claims system will help WCB reduce the number of supported technologies, as well as positioning WCB's technology infrastructure to improve the electronic exchange of information with employers, care-givers and other third parties, the FINEOS source claims.

"We look forward to improving both customer service and operational efficiency at WCB with FINEOS Claims," comments Peter Federko, CEO, WCB. "We anticipate significant improvements in the quality and consistency of our claims handling, including the ability to continually monitor and refine our processes. We believe this solution positions us to cost effectively support the current and future business objectives of WCB." FINEOS Claims will span the entire claims process from initial claim notification through adjudication and service planning and delivery, the FINEOS source reports. The system will facilitate best practice assignment and execution of claims handling processes throughout the claims lifecycle, according to the vendor.
