Texas Mutual Selects Guidewire ClaimCenter

Though it's existing system meets its current needs, the carrier will proactively install ClaimCenter in anticipation of evolving customer needs.

Texas Mutual Insurance Company, an Austin, Texas-based provider of workers' compensation insurance, has selected Guidewire (San Mateo, Calif.) ClaimCenter as its next-generation claim management system.

Texas Mutual decided to implement a replacement system despite its existing system's ability to handle current needs. According to a joint vendor/carrier statement, Texas Mutual recognized the need to take a proactive approach in selecting a new system that could meet the evolving needs of its customers, the company and the industry.

"We chose to create our own future as opposed to reacting to one dictated to us by an aging claim system," comments Terry Buchheit, VP, application services, IT, Texas Mutual. "ClaimCenter will provide us with the modern, flexible technology platform we want in order to ensure that we are able to remain responsive to our policyholder and agent partners."

The carrier expects Claim Center to: improve and streamline process flows to better serve policyholders and their injured workers; focus IT resources on meeting needs of business users, resulting in efficiency improvements and increased responsiveness to market and regulatory changes; free adjusters from manual administrative tasks allowing them to focus on providing more high-value services to customers; and reduce new employee training times through its intuitive interface.

"We believe ClaimCenter will allow us to reset our technology clock and enable us to enhance customer service to our policyholders," Buchheit adds.
