Aetna Helps Distribute Health Screening Stations

The stations are seen as a next step from worksite clinics.

Aetna (Hartford, Conn.) is offering health stations from Computerized Screening (Reno, Nev.) to its group members.

Self-insured employers can lease the stations, which allow users to:

  • Initiate a basic medical self-assessment and receive a personalized report based on their biometric readings: weight, temperature, blood oxygen level and blood pressure
  • Print out a copy of results so they can share them with their providers or update their personal health records
  • Access personalized care through a live, on-demand voice or video consultation with a state-licensed, board-certified doctor when this feature is selected by the member’s employer
  • Access health and wellness tools such as medical encyclopedia, health topics & videos, and prescription database

To connect virtually with a doctor, a member must first register as a new user or sign-in at the health station, establish or update their personal health record, complete the baseline biometric readings, and answer a few questions related to his or her current condition, Aetna says. All data exchanges are SSL-encrypted and no data is stored on the health station, the company notes.

“The health station is a benefit that can help employees manage today’s busy lifestyles and help employers promote employee health and productivity, while reducing health care costs,” Jay Eisenstock, head of Aetna’s Provider eSolutions, says in a statement.
