Aflac Uses Harvard ManageMentor Software for Employee Education

Aflac (Columbus, Ga.) has licensed Harvard Business Publishing's (Boston) ManageMentor, an online program for management essentials that addresses a broad range of common business issues. Aflac is making the program available to all 4,500 of its employees through Harvard Business Publishing's corporate learning group.

Harvard ManageMentor gives Aflac users instant access to practical Business information through audio downloads, video clips, interactive activities and other tools, according to a Harvard Business Publishing statement. The product's 44 modules address fundamental business topics, including business essentials, communication skills, personal development, and strategy essentials, according to the vendor.

"Harvard ManageMentor puts expert advice from world-renowned business leaders literally at your fingertips," says Greg Miller, Aflac's chief learning officer. "Through this program, we are offering Aflac employees an opportunity to learn critical new business skills and brush up existing capabilities and talents."

According to Harvard Business Publishing, benefits to Aflac's ManageMentor users include:

- Immediate access at any time to a wide variety of content, resources and tools such as worksheets and step-by-step guides to solve specific problems. Examples range from crisis management, to managing upward, to how to lead and motivate;

- Structured content from notable and respected experts. The issues and topics are specific and highly defined, such as how to negotiate and establish performance measurements.

- Teaching and mentoring advice for managers who need to lead development discussions with their teams and others, around such topics as persuading others, retaining employees and feedback essentials.

- Collaboration with others by helping structure informal learning and how to share that learning with others.
