AIG Names New CEO
Citing people familiar with the matter, the Wall Street Journal is reporting this morning that former MetLife chairman and chief executive Robert Benmosche has been selected as the carrier's new chief executive officer.
The selection was approved Monday morning by the AIG board, according to one of the newspaper's sources. Benmosche joined MetLife in 1995 and worked as the New York-based insurer's CEO from 1998 to 2006.
Benmosche will succeed Edward Liddy, who assumed the CEO role at AIG following the company's government rescue in September. In May, Liddy announced that he intended to step down from the role of CEO, at the conclusion of a search for a replacement.
