Allianz Life CIO Tom Bauer Resigns
Allianz Life has confirmed that Tom Bauer has resigned from the company's CIO position. The U.S. subsidiary of Allianz SE (Munich) has begun a search for a new CIO both internally within the greater Allianz organization and externally.
"We appreciate all that Tom did for the IT organization," comments Walter White, chief administrative officer, Allianz Life. "We have come a long way, and that is reflected in part by the strength of the remaining leadership of the organization."
White, to whom Bauer reported prior to his departure, says that Allianz Life will not identify an interim CIO but rather the four "second line" of IT executives will report directly to him.
"We do have a very full IT agenda and initiatives as we look out over 2011, including replacing our core policy administration system, so it’s important that we have strong leadership at the helm of the IT organization," White comments. "The search has been initiated and we hope to complete it as soon as possible."
White says that because Bauer left for personal reasons, privacy considerations require him to decline to comment.
Bauer himself declined to comment on his reasons for departure, but did speak with Insurance & Technology about his tenure at Allianz.
"I'm extremely proud of the significant improvements that were made to employee morale, customer satisfaction and project delivery under my watch," Bauer says. "The IT organization at Allianz Life is well prepared to enable the technology services needed to support the demands of the business strategy."
