Allianz Life HQ Earns Energy Star
The Golden Valley, Minn. headquarters of Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America has earned an Energy Star distinction from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and U.S. Department of Energy. Allianz achieved a score of 78 out of 100, the company says.
According to the company, it changed core operating hours from 5:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m; closed blinds on hot days to reduce the air conditioner’s workload; installed more energy efficient light bulbs in the buildings and parking ramp; ensured lights were switched off after hours; increased the efficiencies of our mechanical systems and building automation system; and minimized landscape and parking ramp lighting after hours and on weekends.
“Our employees are passionate advocates for our energy-saving efforts,” Allianz Life chief human resources officer Suzanne Zeller says in a statement. “We maintain energy-efficient buildings for all the right reasons: It minimizes our impact on the environment while saving money.”
