Allstate Names Suren Gupta EVP of Technology and Operations

The former Wells Fargo EVP and CIO takes over the carrier's IT strategy, reporting to the CEO.

Northbrook, Ill.-based personal lines carrier Allstate has named Suren Gupta EVP of technology and operations.

Gupta replaces Catherine Brune, who had been CIO and is now president of Allstate Protection's South regions, in taking for enterprise wide technology strategy; network infrastructure; enterprise applications; and technology-related governance, security and compliance. Before coming to Allstate, he was EVP and CIO of Wells Fargo consumer lending.

Gupta reports to Allstate president, chairman and CIO Thomas Wilson, who said in a statement: "Suren's leadership, innovative thinking and technology expertise will serve Allstate well as we invest in new ways to enhance our customers' experiences and achieve competitive advantage."

"I look forward to helping deliver innovative technology solutions that benefit customers and Allstate agencies, facilitate new product development, and streamline back-office operations," Gupta adds in a statement.
