American General Supports Broker Interactions with BenefitPoint
American General Financial Group (Houston) has selected San Francisco-based BenefitPoint's e-commerce platform to support its interactions with brokers and other third parties. American General, which distributes insurance products to employees at their worksites, will use the platform to streamline business processes with brokers and consultants connected on BenefitPoint.
"Our decision to partner with BenefitPoint was based, in part, on our corporate e-commerce initiatives," says Jim Cortiglia, director, product development, American General Financial Group. "While researching our options, we saw that a growing number of brokers were utilizing this technology, so we felt our participation was critical for maintaining a competitive edge."
According to Cortiglia, BenefitPoint's e-commerce platform is beneficial for brokers as well as carriers. "Both American General and brokers alike will enjoy streamlined, electronic proposal submission, presentation and reporting," he says. "For a carrier, being available to the broker via this service may be the difference in getting a quote or not. Brokers further benefit if they utilize the system's client database management capabilities."
