AmeriHealth Mercy Deploys Mobile Provider Tools
Amerihealth Mercy, a Philadelphia-based company specializing in health plans for underserved populations, will offer its physician network NaviNet Mobile Connect mobile care alerts and e-prescribing capabilities from Boston-based NaviNet.
“Access to comprehensive, real-time patient information is a critical part of providing high-quality care, especially when it comes to treating Medicaid patients, who may see several different health care providers and be prescribed multiple medications,” Jay Feldstein, DO, AmeriHealth Mercy Family of Companies regional president, Northern Division, says in a statement. “Mobile technology will allow physicians to have the latest clinical and medication information about patients covered by AmeriHealth Mercy, which will support doctor-patient engagement, a model that has been proven to improve patient care and reduce health care costs.”
NaviNet Mobile Connect is compatible with iOS, Android and Windows Mobile platforms. Its components include NaviNet Prescribe, an e-prescribing and clinical decision support offering; and NaviNet Care Alerts, which leverage the e-prescribing process to inform physicians of needed or missed tests, procedures or therapies while the patient is in the exam room. Physicians can also use the service to inform AmeriHealth Mercy of care procedures performed.
AmeriHealth Mercy initially will offer NaviNet Mobile Connect to physicians in Pennsylvania and subsequently will expand the mobile services to physicians in all states the health plan serves. This represents an expansion of an existing relationship; since 2009, AmeriHealth Mercy has made NaviNet Clinical Alerts available to physicians via a desktop Web-based multi-payer portal.
