Apple Unleashes Worlds Greatest Technology Innovation of All-Time, We Assume
After weeks of wild speculation around its new tablet e-reader thingy, Apple officially unveiled its latest (potentially game-changing) product today, during a 1 pm press conference. And it shall be named iPad, thus spaketh Steve Jobs.
Early reports describe the iPad as a sort of supersized iPhone, providing a better Web browsing and media viewing experience. Jobs says the device is a half inch thick and weighs 1.5 lbs, with a 9.7 inch IPS display and a supposed 10 hours of battery life.
Apple chose not to provide an official live stream of the announcement, so details are fuzzy right now -- at least to the editors of I&T. Fritz Nelson of InformationWeek, however, is in the audience and is live blogging the announcement here. "This is really mostly what you can do on the iPhone (or any smart phone), just a nicer bigger experience," he writes.
