Arbella Upgrades StoneRiver Claims Workstation

A Claims Workstation customer since 1997, Arbella plans to gain process and performance improvements through move to the latest version of the StoneRiver solution.

Arbella Insurance Group has chosen to migrate to the latest version of StoneRiver's Claims Workstation claims management system, according to a StoneRiver source. Arbella has been a Claims Workstation customer since 1997, the vendor says.

"Claims Workstation has been a valuable system for us for several years. By migrating, we gain the advantage of additional capabilities that provide an opportunity for return on investment from process improvement as well as performance improvements," comments E.J. Sutherland, CIO, Arbella Insurance.

The move to the latest version of Claims Workstation will boost the carrier's efficiency and service capabilities at a time when customer touch-points such as claims are especially important, according to Gary Sherne, president, insurance solutions, StoneRiver. "Arbella also gains the opportunity to move ahead on our new StoneRiver Project Ignition claims solution currently in development." Project Ignition is the working name for multi-corporation, multi-company, all-lines solutions in development that Sherne says will operate on an advanced, model-driven service-oriented architecture that embeds a full enterprise service bus in the solutions.

StoneRiver describes Claims Workstation as an "ultra-configurable" core claims system that handles all property-casualty lines of business. From first notice of loss through assignment, reserves, payment and settlement, Claims Workstation integrates work management and business rules technology; the solution automates claims management, leaving claims staff and management with time for in-depth claim investigation and negotiations, the vendor claims. Claims Workstation features a J2EE open architecture and platform flexibility, StoneRiver reports. Through its highly configurable design, insurers can deploy a claims settlement tool over the Web that is tailored to their unique business needs, the vendor says.
