AXA Equitable Promotes Agarwal to Head of Life Insurance Unit

Manish Agarwal, as head of financial protection, will lead business management, operations and more for the company's life insurance business.

New York-based AXA Equitable Life Insurance Company has named Manish Agarwal head of financial protection. In this role, Agarwal will lead AXA Equitable's life insurance business, including its business management and operations, product life cycle management, product design and manufacturing and distribution management areas.

"Life insurance has been core to our business and part of our growth story for 154 years. Together with business teams and distributor networks, Manish will build a broad, diversified product portfolio that meets and anticipates the needs of our clients and partners," said Andrew McMahon, President of AXA Equitable, in a statement. "His expertise in building new and existing relationships will help our company reach more customers reflective of the societal trends in the attractive US market, generating meaningful, sustainable growth."

Agarwal last led business development and strategy for AXA Equitable, responsible for the strategic initiatives group, field compensation, risk management and associate hiring and contract administration. He also spent four years overseeing operations, sales support and strategy for AXA Advisors, LLC, the company's retail distribution channel. He joined the company in 2005 and replaces former EVP and head of financial protection David O'Leary.
