Baldwin & Lyons Selects Systema for Claims
By Nathan Golia
Baldwin & Lyons, an Indiana-based property-and-casualty insurer, has chosen Larkspur, Calif.-based Systema Software’s SIMS Claims to process claims.
SIMS, a browser-based system, will replace multiple legacy systems, the companies said in a release.
“Over the years, our company grew organically to offer a complex mix of insurance products, including auto, liability, and workers’ compensation coverage to the motor carrier industry,” said Jeff Price, director of IT at Baldwin & Lyons, in a statement. “As we added new products, we slowly added new claim systems, which created a complex environment and a multiplicative effect on the cost of our IT operations.”
Ease of use was a major factor in the choice of Systema, B&L director of liability claims David Myhre added.
“Our existing staff [can] easily transition from current systems, and as we grow, new staff will be able to more quickly master our workflow processes,” he stated.
B&L runs two insurance companies. Protective Insurance Company provides coverage for large trucking fleets. Sagamore Insurance Company offers both private passenger automobile insurance and commercial automobile coverage to small trucking fleets and artisan contractors.
