BCBS of South Carolina Selects Med-Vantage HealthSmart

The vendor's Health Smart Enhanced Provider Directory and Measure Exchange solutions will be used to enable the insurer's employer customers to provide information to their employees.

BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina (Columbia) has selected San-Francisco-based Med-Vantage Inc.'s Health Smart Enhanced Provider Directory and Measure Exchange solutions to enable the insurer's employer customers to provide useful information to their employees.

"We are in a unique position to use comprehensive patient care data as an objective basis to provide our customers more information about our provider network," say Laura Long, MD, vice president of clinical quality and health management, BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina. "The real market differentiator will be how health plans engage their members and providers using this information for better outcomes."

Dr. Long attributed the insurer's decision to partner with Med-Vantage to the vendor's experience with Blue plans and its "innovative engagement automation" experience.
