Berkshire Hathaway Appoints SVP and VP for New Division

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance has appointed senior vice president of healthcare professional liability and vice president of construction casualty.

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance, a commercial property casualty insurance group launched by Berkshire Hathaway Inc. earlier this year, has appointed Leo J. Carroll as SVP of healthcare professional liability, headquartered in New York; and William B. Sullivan as VP of construction casualty, headquartered in Boston.

“These seasoned executive will lead out efforts in the key healthcare and construction markets.” Says David Bresnahan EVP of casualty, healthcare, and professional liability and executive and professional lines at Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance in a release. “Leo’s extensive experience will be especially beneficial to healthcare customers as they navigate the changing exposures ahead.

Bresnahan adds, “Bill brings to our team and expansive background in construction underwriting, marketing, and product development.”

Prior Berkshire, Carroll was SVP and head of healthcare professional at liability at Zurich North America and Sullivan managed all aspects of wrap-up business as AVP of construction wrap-up and strategic business development at The Hartford Financial Services Group.

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance is a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway and focuses on commercial P&C and focuses on underwriting property, casualty, professional and executive liability insurance and programs for customers in the U.S. Other insurance subsidiaries include GEICO Auto Insurance, General Re, and Applied Underwriters.
