Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana Partners with Benefitfocus on Enrollment Technology
Healthcare and voluntary benefits software provider Benefitfocus (Charleston, S.C.) announced a multi-year partnership with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana (BCBSLA, Baton Rouge) to deliver enterprise-level data exchange technology through the Benefitfocus Platform. BCBSLA will use the Platform to automate, standardize and simplify data exchange among its customers, affiliated partners and business systems.
“Our customers are looking for strong and scalable data integration solutions, and Benefitfocus provides a trusted Platform and proven technology that will help us better serve our customers and their employees by simplifying how they manage and interact with their benefits,” noted Allison Young, SVP of benefits administration for BCBSLA, in a statement. According to the two companies, BCBSLA selected Benefitfocus due to its extensive experience in accommodating the diverse requirements of healthcare systems, delivering massive transaction volumes and rapid deployment of software throughout the enterprise.
The Benefitfocus Platform is designed to meet the broad continuum of healthcare benefits needs of insurance carriers and large employers, according to the vendor. Delivered via a Software as a Service (SaaS) model, the Platform will allow BCBSLA to transition away from legacy electronic data interchange (EDI) processes and eliminate the need for paper enrollment. The Platform will also ensure that data exchange between BCBSLA and its employer customers is accurate, secure and consolidated into a uniform file format. The Benefitfocus Platform’s Many-to-One data exchange model consolidates multiple files from employers into one uniform file format, providing a more efficient process for BCBSLA and its customers, says Benefitfocus.
