Drawing inspiration from the recognition that they have a number of insurance clients in common, Dallas-based Docucorp International, a provider of policy issuance solutions, and policy and claims administration systems provider Castek (Toronto), have formed a marketing alliance. The companies' goal is to provide P&C insurers with an end-to-end business solution for insurance sales and service.

Castek originally approached Docucorp with the alliance proposition, according to Richie Leslie, Castek's vice president, customer satisfaction, while Docucorp was working on implementations of document management and production systems at two of Castek's customer sites. Docucorp agreed to the alliance at least in part because it actually had been seeking relationships with providers of the front-end part of policy processing systems, according to Brenda Kai, Docucorp's vice president of marketing.

An engineered integration of Castek's Insure3 policy administration system with Docucorp's policy production and claims correspondence solutions, is intended to begin some time within the next 12 months, according to Castek's Leslie, and is subject to market demand, he adds.

With the eventual goal of making integration of the two vendors' offerings easier, faster and cheaper for their clients, Castek will provide the rate/quote mechanism on the front-end while Docucorp provides policy issuance on the back-end, Kai reports.
