Claims Settlement

White Plains, N.Y. • Cybersettle introduced version 5.0 of its Cybersettle online claims settlement system. Built on Microsoft's ASP.NET platform, Cybersettle 5.0 enables users to settle related claims together, share documents online, customize reports, sort online display grids to better manage data, access real-time claim status information and hand off cases to facilitators to enhance negotiations, the vendor says.

Records Management

Eden Prairie, Minn. • Stellent launched Stellent Universal Records Management, a content management solution built on a distributed architecture that enables insurers to apply enterprisewide records and retention policies, and manage policies from a single application, according to the vendor. These capabilities can be leveraged within any Symantec Enterprise Vault or Microsoft SharePoint Server, as well as Windows, Unix and Linux file servers.

Risk Management.

El Segundo, Calif. • Computer Sciences Corp. (CSC) released a new version of its RISKMASTER claims and risk management information system -- RISKMASTER X -- that features an architecture and Web portal model that are new to the self-insured marketplace. According to CSC, the Web portal allows clients to create one Internet-accessible hub for all claims-related functions; the centralized access enables administrators to more efficiently manage the entire claims process.

Instant Communication

San Diego • Akonix rolled out L7 Builder v5, a secure instant messaging system designed to integrate IM into enterprise applications and create real-time communications, says the vendor. The Akonix L7 Builder v5, which supports the new MSN Messenger Activity Window, creates and deploys solutions to extend existing enterprise applications while supporting standard development environments and the use of enterprise IM networks.


Markham, Ontario • InSystems launched IStream, a suite of integrated services and products that facilitate product development, regulatory compliance, sales and document management. The IStream suite helps insurers file new products with state insurance departments more quickly and efficiently, produce customized documents, improve compliance control, reduce the risk of noncompliance fines, and move new products to market faster, according to the vendor.

Policy Processing

Toronto • OARBIC released OARBIC Software Enterprise Application (OSEA), a transactional insurance portal for the P&C industry that uses ACORD/CSIO XML standards and offers carriers an incremental alternative to full-scale policy management system replacements. The solution's J2EE architecture leverages a carrier's investment in its legacy systems while providing improved flexibility and reduced processing cycle times.

Rules Management

Minneapolis • Fair Isaac unveiled SmartForms for Blaze Advisor 6.1, the newest version of its rules management system. SmartForms helps users create customized, interactive Web-based forms by embedding business rules directly into Web forms. The resulting interfaces serve as the gateway to data capture and accurate, automated decisioning, claims Fair Isaac.

Call Center

Atlanta • Premiere Global Services upgraded its speech technology platform to include outbound call pacing and inbound transfer pacing; and real-time reporting, which allows organizations to monitor their calling campaigns with visual charting of actual paces relative to predefined parameters, according to the vendor.

Claims Management

Parsippany, N.J. • GAB Robins North America introduced EYE Advisor, a Web-based suite of claims management and reporting tools that provide access to real-time claims management data with the ability to track those claims, interact with the claims team, and generate reports that identify and track trends, says the vendor.
