Mukherjee Leaves Farmers for Cognizant
Nineteen-year financial services industry veteran Deb Mukherjee, most recently CTO at Farmers Insurance (Los Angeles), has joined Teaneck, NJ-based Cognizant Technology Solutions Corp. as chief technology officer.
Cognizant, a software developer and integration and maintenance services provider, chose Mukherjee to fill the CTO spot based partially on his extensive financial services experience. Besides his stay at Farmers, where he helped the insurer move towards an e-business infrastructure, Mukherjee was also vice president and CTO at Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield and vice president of the technology division, portfolio investment systems, at Fidelity Investments. Mukherjee also held senior executive positions at the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication (SWIFT) and Texas Instruments.
Mukherjee, who was traveling in India at press time and was not available for comment, will be responsible for leading Coginzant's global e-architecture group, which helps customers create business solutions to re-architect legacy systems for e-business.
At press time, Farmers Insurance officials also were not available for comment as to whether or not the company was planning to fill Mukherjee's former post.
