Selective’s Mohr Promoted to Senior VP
Hired in December 2000 to assess Selective Insurance Group's (Branchville, N.J.; $3.4 billion total assets) technology environment as vice president for IT, Rick Mohr has been promoted to senior vice president.
Mohr will continue to head Selective's technology architecture and planning groups, overseeing technology architects dedicated to technology planning and the establishment of standards; a Web development group responsible for internal and external portals; a database administration and information architecture group; and IT budgeting, procurements and contracts. Mohr will also take on responsibility for Selective's electronic business exchange area, which handles electronic data interchange (EDI) transmissions between Selective and outside entities.
Mohr says that he will work to leverage technology standards identified and established through the assessment process he participated in upon his arrival at Selective. He explains that Selective has evolved to a highly extensible, Web-based environment. "Because we have standards, technology reuse and a specific architecture to support business needs, we can provide the extent of Internet connectivity needed for applications in areas such as claims, billing and underwriting," Mohr says. "Part of my charge will be to continue to evolve our technology standards and architecture," he comments. "We're also working to build a central standard environment for testing and deploying our Web-based applications, as well as expanding and enhancing our private and public Web sites."
