State Farm, Edmunds Partner on Car Shopping App

The CarCapture app allows prospective car buyers to take a picture of a vehicle for insurance and pricing information.

State Farm and auto shopping site Edmunds.com have partnered on the CarCapture mobile app, which uses image capture technology to get information on any car, including potential insurance prices.

By taking a photo of the back of a car, CarCapture users can get vehicle features, safety information, consumer reviews, State Farm insurance quotes, and Edmunds' pricing estimates. The app is available for both iOS and Android.

“The user experience is simple,” said Jack Weekes, who leads the State Farm Innovation Team, in a statement. “All [users] have to do is take a photo, which prompts the availability of valuable information, in moments.”
