Winning With a New Mind-set
In an industry known for aversion to change and risk, the partnership of ACORD and LOMA to create a new, expanded conference event - the ACORD LOMA Insurance Systems Forum - signifies a new mind-set among insurance technology executives. "Proprietary, unconnected and status quo" is out; "interoperability, connected and change" is in (or at least unavoidable). With a theme of "Breakthrough: Meeting Challenges, Seizing Opportunities," the Forum (May 23-25, Paris/Bally's Hotels, Las Vegas) reflects the new insurance mind-set, with an expanded exhibit floor (see roster, page 64) and conference program. Also, general sessions featuring the insights of the industry's most prominent analysts (May 23) and leading CEOs (May 25) will balance the keynote presentation (May 24) by renowned futurist Daniel Burrus of Burrus Research Associates.
This preview of the ACORD LOMA Insurance Systems Forum is designed to complement the event's content by providing some additional analysis and context. ACORD's president/CEO Greg Maciag and LOMA's president/CEO Thomas Donaldson offer insights into the accomplishments so far of the new industry alliance and identify highlights of the coming event. And, an up-to-the-minute study from InformationWeek Research, a sibling property of I&T, underscores that there is indeed a new, more positive and aggressive mind-set in the industry, particularly regarding technology investments.
