CIGNA Teams with MD On-Line to Grow Electronic Claims Submissions
Aiming to help its healthcare professionals convert from paper to electronic claims submission, CIGNA (Philadelphia) is partnering with MD On-Line, Inc. , a Parsippany, N.J.-based firm involved in enabling interoperable EDI transactions between healthcare payers and healthcare professionals.
As part of this effort, MD On-Line has launched a co-branded Web portal (www.cignamdol.com) to allow health care professionals to submit their claims transactions electronically at no additional cost, and will actively market its offering to those currently submitting claims on paper. CIGNA joins the more than 30 other carriers who also have teamed with MD On-Line for this initiative.
Under this new arrangement, healthcare professionals that currently submit 100 percent of their claims to CIGNA on paper may be eligible for special offers and discounts that may allow them to qualify for free services if they convert to electronic claims submission. "This initiative is part of CIGNA's overall effort to offer hospitals and healthcare professionals more choice among national and regional vendors, reduce paperwork, and enhance service all at a lower cost," said Albert C. Leavengood, CIGNA Claim Intake Lead, in a statement.
"We look forward to helping [CIGNA] to convert their paper-submitted providers so that they can realize the cost saving and time efficiency of electronic claims submission, and helping CIGNA achieve their goal of helping to reduce paperwork and enhance service at lower costs," said Bill Bartzak, President and CEO of MD On-Line.
