Insurers can optimize business processes and gain efficiency by ensuring that employees across the enterprise have access to the applications they need as well as real-time data whether they are in the office or at a remote site, says Jeff Reser with IBM Software Group. Technologies such as IP technology embedded into the business process provide unified communications and collaboration. For example, a claims adjuster at an auto accident site can communicate in real-time with the auto repair shop to determine if a part can be repaired or needs to be replaced, not only saving time for the adjuster, but improving service for the customer. Real-time access also provides insurers and customers with more accurate and timely assessments.
