NAIC: Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner Doak Didn't Speak for the Organization
The NAIC has contacted I&T objecting to a March 6 headline that read "The NAIC Strikes Back: FIO "Unconstitutional," on the grounds that it was a member of the organization, Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner John Doak, and not the organization itself that made the statement. Fair enough. We had expected Rep. Ed Royce's Feb. 28 letter to spark some reaction at the NAIC spring meeting, and in the case of Doak's statement it was an open reaction, but not in the form of an official pronouncement on the part of the NAIC regarding the FIO. Indeed, as SNL's Sean Carr reported, Doak's statement was greeted with silence rather than any sign of assent. Accordingly, we've changed the headline of the story in question to accurately reflect events.
