New York Life Names Nancy Davenport VP of Governmental Affairs

Davenport's experience includes regulatory advocacy roles at JPMorgan Chase and the American Council of Life Insurers, as well as roles in the New York State Legislature.

Former ACLI and JPMorgan Chase attorney Nancy Davenport has joined New York Life as vice president in the carrier's office of governmental affairs, reporting to first vice president Gayle Yeomans. In her new role, Davenport will oversee development and communication of the carrier's strategies related to state and federal insurance regulatory reform.

Prior to joining New York Life, Davenport was a vice president at JPMorgan Chase, responsible for legislative, regulatory and political advocacy on behalf of the company in the states of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Massachusetts. Earlier she had been senior counsel and director of Northeast state relations for the American Council of Life Insurers (ACLI). Davenport also served as director of the Assembly Minority Counsel's Office in the New York State Legislature in Albany, and as executive director and counsel for the New York State Legislative Ethics Committee. Before serving in the New York State Legislature, Davenport was in private practice and an adjunct lecturer at Vassar College.
