PMSI Releases Medicare InstaConnect
PMSI Settlement Solutions (Tampa, Fla.) has introduced Medicare InstaConnect, a data collection and reporting tool designed to assist small- and mid-sized carriers in complying with new Mandatory Insurer Reporting (MIR) requirements required by the Medicare, Medicaid and SCHIP Extension Act of 2007. The legislation, with a compliance deadline of July 2009, requires group health, liability, no-fault insurers and workers' compensation insurers to electronically report all claims involving a Medicare beneficiary to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
According to a press release, the Web-based InstaConnect solution builds off of PMSI's governmental reporting technology infrastructure and the vendor's existing Medicare Connect MIR solution for larger players. InstaConnect allows small- and mid-sized payers to capture all of the required data elements without the need to reprogram legacy claims systems, the company says.
"In working with our small- to mid-sized clients, we recognized that while the reporting and compliance requirements are the same as larger organizations, their resources and system capabilities are stretched much further. As a result, we responded quickly to offer Medicare InstaConnect, a simplified MIR solution with instant connectivity," Dr. Kent Takemoto, president of PMSI Settlement Solutions, said in a statement.
A PMSI team of government affairs experts will monitor changes to MIR requirements and enhance the InstaConnect system as necessary, the company says. Reporting requirements are built directly into the system.
