Blue Shield of California Enables Members to Criticize its Plans on its Web Site
Blue Shield of California has given its members the opportunity to share criticism of its plans with other members and prospective members through the carrier's deployment of the Bazaarvoice (Austin, Texas) social commerce platform featuring the vendor's Ratings & Reviews application. Available on the San Francisco-based carrier's homepage, www.blueshieldca.com, Ratings & Reviews enables the insurer's members to share candid feedback on different plans; potential members can easily browse the reviews in support of their decisions, according to a Bazaarvoice source.

In a release of its own, Blue Shield of California has characterized the deployment of Ratings & Reviews as a first-of-its-kind initiative allowing members to provide candid, public feedback about their experiences with the carrier's plans.
"Our members want to be heard and want to be able to interact with us and with each other in exciting new ways," comments Rob Geyer, senior vice president of customer operations at Blue Shield of California, in the carrier news release. "We plan to address any issues raised in these forums openly to help our members get easy access to quality and affordable health care. We're proud to be the first health plan in the country to be fully transparent and encourage our members to share their health care experiences online in a richer and more visible way."
