As part of an effort to reach its goal of improving strategic positioning as it grows and diversifies, Hartford Life Insurance Co. (Hartford) has appointed Lizbeth Zlatkus to take over the dual roles of chief financial officer and head of the carrier's office of the chief information officer. In her new role Zlatkus will report directly to Tom Marra, president and COO, Hartford Life.
The recent combination of roles, explains a Hartford Life spokesperson, allows Zlatkus to be more strategic than if she just held the responsibility of the the CFO alone.
"I have selected Lizbeth Zlatkus for this dual role based on her unique set of strengths," says Marra. "In addition to her financial responsibilities as CFO, her ability to utilize technology will serve us well as she seeks to align resources and best practices across all of Hartford Life's businesses."
In her new role, Zlatkus will lead the office of the CIO in designing IT strengths and best practices across the organization. Vic Severino, CIO, Hartford Life, will continue to have responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the CIO office and will report directly to Zlatkus. Responsibility for the overall financial management of Hartford Life will be taken on by Zlatkus, who will also help in leading long-term growth strategies for all of Hartford Life's business.
Most recently, Zlatkus was executive vice president and director of The Hartford's Group Benefit Division. Zlatkus joined The Hartford in 1983 in the property-casualty operation, where she held roles in finance, reinsurance and strategic issues.
