According to customer experience analyst Bruce Temkin's research, insurers rank seventh out of 19 industries in overall customer satisfaction.

Customer experience analyst Bruce Temkin is in the midst of releasing breakouts from his 2013 Temkin Experience Ratings report, which "ranks the customer experience of 246 companies across 19 industries based on a survey of 10,000 U.S. consumers."

According to Temkin's research, the insurance industry ranks seventh out of the 19 industries in overall experience. It also "has been steadily improving over the last three years, from an average rating of 58.5% in 2011 to 65.0% in 2013," he wrote in a blog post breaking out insurer results today.

That post also shows how the 14 insurers who were ranked fared in the poll. Here's the top five, all of which posted increases in experience ratings from last year:

  • USAA

  • State Farm
