From One Crisis to Another: Addressing Global Financial Risk and U.S. Healthcare (Video)

Let the retrospectives begin. Over the next couple of weeks we are sure to get an earful and eyeful of analysis, second-guessing and forecasting relating to the fact that it is one year since the failures (near or actual) of Lehman Brothers and AIG, as well as Bank of America's 11th-hour deal to acquire Merrill Lynch.This discussion on CNBC with Will Hutton, executive vice chair at The Work Foundation, addresses what has happened in the global financial system over the past year -both the relatively good news (the system has not failed) and the causes for continuing anxiety. According to Hutton, systemic financial risk still has not been addressed sufficiently by the G20 nations.

Hutton also addressed the prospects for President Obama's healthcare/health insurance proposals. When asked if a time of high unemployment and economic downturn is the right time to be pushing for changes in the system -- especially ways to cover uninsured individuals -- he suggested that, "Arguably it is the time of the cycle to do it" as there are even more people who will need coverage.
