General Re Life Names VP of Risk Management

The exec has also held positions at Unum.

Stamford, Conn.-based General Re Life Corporation has named John Najarian VP of risk management for its group & specialty reinsurance division.

Najarian is based in the carrier's South Portland, Me. office, leading the division's underwriting and claim operations. He comes from Income & Benefit Solutions, an employee benefits brokerage and enrollment firm he helped found. He also held "a variety of leadership and technical roles at Unum," according to a statement.

"John brings to Gen Re broad expertise and nearly 30 years experience in the life, health, and disability marketplace," Drew King, SVP of the division. "His diverse management background includes underwriting, claim management, product development, enrollment, and distribution, and we are excited to add his skills to our capabilities and bring his perspective to our reinsurance clients."
